CEO Update: A Message from George Yammouni

Colleagues,

This is my second update for 2025, I hope you have all started the year well.

Australian PMI

The S&P Global Australia Manufacturing PMI remained steady at 51.0 in June, no change from the previous month. New business activities stalled this month, demand remained unchanged, however, production returned to growth this month helped by faster services activity. The manufacturing sector also reported growth in jobs.

Due to rising shipping and raw material input costs, inflation has risen, resulting in manufactures cutting back on inventory. Sentiment was reported at its lowest this month, since October 2024.

New Zealand PMI

The Manufacturing PMI in New Zealand decreased by 5.8 points to 47.50 in the month of May, this is the second month of trending downwards, since the highs of Feb, March and April of around 54 points. All indices fell this month, with employment falling to its lowest since July 2024. Negative sentiment is on the rise, resulting from weak orders, low business confidence, rising costs and economic uncertainty.
